How to connect Stripe to MyMembers
Short answer
In the onboarding step "Connect Stripe", use the link to create a restricted API key in Stripe without changing any of the pre-filled permissions. Paste the key, which starts with rk_live, choose your country and click "Connect".
Connect your Stripe account
- Use the link in the onboarding step "Connect Stripe" to create the key in Stripe. Do not change any of the pre-filled permissions.
- Copy the whole key with no spaces. It is shown only once in Stripe, so create a new one if you are unsure.
- Paste the key in MyMembers. It must start with rk_live.
- Select your country, tick the terms box and click "Connect".
The key is needed so MyMembers can create your products and checkout sessions and manage subscriptions in your Stripe account. You can revoke it at any time in your Stripe dashboard. MyMembers then stops working for your pages.
If you see "Failed to connect. Please check your key and try again."
MyMembers needs a live restricted key. Test keys (rk_test, sk_test) and publishable keys (pk_) are rejected. Create a fresh key from the onboarding link, leave the permissions as they are, and paste it again. If it still fails, message creator support on Telegram.
Complete verification (KYC)
If your page says "Owner must complete KYC verification to activate payments.", the verification is done in Stripe, not in MyMembers. Log in to your Stripe dashboard and complete the outstanding verification requests there. Once Stripe enables charges on your account, the message disappears and your page can take payments.
Supported countries
You need a Stripe account in a supported country. The current list is: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Côte d'Ivoire, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Gibraltar, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States.
Changing Stripe account or payment provider
Member payments run only through Stripe, so a Stripe account is required. Other providers, crypto and Telegram Stars are not supported.
Switching to a different Stripe account cannot be done from the dashboard, because your existing pages and subscriptions live in the connected account. Message creator support on Telegram to discuss it.
