How discount codes and free trials work

Short answer

Discounts are normally applied through a special link from the creator, with a page address ending in ?coupon=CODE, and the reduced price is shown before you pay. If a plan has a free trial, the page shows a badge with the number of free days.

Use a discount code

  1. Open the discount link the creator gave you. The page address ends in ?coupon=CODE.
  2. Check that the reduced price is shown before you pay.
  3. On some plans the Stripe checkout page also has an "Add promotion code" field where you can type a code.

If neither works, ask the creator for a working discount link.

How a free trial works

If a plan has a free trial, the page shows a badge with the number of free days, and "My Orders" shows "Free period ends" with the date. After that the plan renews at the normal price unless you cancel before.

Why checkout asks for a card

A free trial is the start of a subscription, so the checkout asks for a payment method. You are not charged during the trial. To avoid the first charge, cancel before the trial ends under "My Orders" > "Cancel".

Why you did not get the free trial

Free trials are normally only for new customers of that page. If your email is, or has previously been, a member of the page, the trial is not applied, unless the creator has chosen to give returning members the trial too.
