How to offer a free trial, intro price or coupon
Short answer
Free trials and first payment discounts are set on a plan in the "Pricing" tab. Coupon codes for new sign-ups are created in the "Discounts" tab, and each coupon has a ready link to your page with the discount applied.
Add a free trial or an introductory price
- Open "My Pages" > "Manage" > "Pricing" tab and add or edit a plan.
- Use "Add Free Trial" to set a trial period in days.
- Or use "First Payment Discount" to set a lower first payment, after which the regular price applies (for example 15 first, then 25 per month).
Free trials are only given to customers who have not been a member of that page before, unless you choose under "Customize" to give returning members the trial too.
A paid trial with its own length (for example 10 days for a set price) is not available. Use a first payment discount on a weekly or monthly plan instead.
Create a coupon for new sign-ups
- Open "My Pages" > "Manage" > "Discounts" tab and click "Add Coupon".
- Choose a percentage or a fixed amount.
- Choose whether it applies to the first payment only, multiple months or all payments.
- Optionally set maximum uses, a custom code, an expiration date and "Only for new customers".
- Use the copy button on the coupon to get a ready link to your page with the discount applied, and share that link.
Coupons cannot be edited after creation. Delete the coupon and create a new one instead.
Give a discount to an existing member
Open Subscribers > Members, click the member and choose "Apply Discount". Enter a percentage and choose "Forever", "Once" or "Multiple months". Use "Clear Discount" to remove it.
What members see
A plan with a free trial shows a badge with the number of free days. The checkout asks for a payment method because a trial is the start of a subscription. The member is not charged during the trial, and the plan renews at the normal price unless they cancel before it ends.
